The Women’s Ministry has presented items worth GH¢30,000.00 to the Mahyia District Hospital in Kumasi. The items, including, bathing and washing soap, toilet rolls, detergents, a LED television, toys, bedsheets, pillows, diapers, bleach, satellite antenna, syringes, weighing scales, thermometers, towels, gloves etc. were donated to the Hospital during the National Good Women Ministry’s convention held at the Akosa Park at Bantama in Kumasi.
The four day Convention which was on the theme: “Your Daughters Shall Prophesy” was attended by hundreds of women from all over the country as part of activities marking the Centenary Celebration of the church. Mrs Ernestina Afrani, National President of the Women’ Ministry, who made the presentation, said she was happy that God had blessed the Church enough in its 100 years of existence and therefore the women decided to make a donation to the needy as a form of its social responsibility. “The church has been blessed, and the women who form the greater part of the membership felt we should share the joy by extending a hand to the patients of the hospital who have become our neighbours as we worship in Kumasi”.
Dr. K. Opoku, the Co-ordinator of the Medical staff at the Hospital who received the donation thanked the women for the gesture. Dr. Opoku said the items which covered all the areas of the hospital’s need had brought a great relieve to the staff and patients of the hospital who sometimes found it difficult to provide the needed services especially to the needy patients who could not afford the total cost of treatment. He appealed to other institutions to also assist to help run the facility better.
Present at the ceremony were Apostle Dr E. O. Donkor, General Secretary of the church as well as Apostle Michael Nimo, a Former Chairman who prayed for both the staff and the patients.
